Once Upon a Time

This book is a motley collection of 15 stories belonging to the bygone era. These are stories that have been told across the world through generations of storytellers as “Once Upon A Time” stories. Drawn from the folktale treasures of varied countries including Italy, Greece, Germany, Japan, Korea, Africa, Indonesia and India, these exhilarating stories cover diverse themes.

Obviously, not all these stories are new or unknown. As we read some of the stories, we experience a certain familiarity and a ‘heard it before’ feeling. For example, our readers may find stories such as the ‘Frog Prince’, ‘Bell of Atri’, ‘Androcles and the Lion’, and ‘Daedalus and Icarus’ vaguely familiar. After all, once upon a time’ stories, by definition, are those that have been told through the years, again and again.

That apart, there are several stories which the reader may not be familiar with and enjoy reading for the first time. Like for example, ‘Father for Sale, ‘The Severed Head Talked’, ‘The Champion Rooster’, and ‘The Three Gifted Brothers’.
